The Eagle, Brighton

The Eagle is a nice sized pub with the bar on the right hand wall past a large column by the front door that has a tropical fish tank built into it. There is standing room around the bar that was needed for the hoards of people trying to get served and in the centre of the pub there are some large wooden tables. Some more conventional seating can be found on the left hand side of the pub where there is also an operating fireplace. I didn’t spot any Greene King signs anywhere, but I would have thought that this is a GK pub looking at the ale available that was Fireside, Ruddles, Abbot, Hydes Jekyll’s Gold and St Edmunds. There is also a standard draught selection, from which I was poured a decent half of Guinness, and Leffe and Aspall’s cider were also available. As far as I could see there are no TVs, but some decent background music was playing from differing genres. There are four large picnic tables out the front that were being used by smokers during my visit on Saturday night. I preferred the Basketmakers over the road, but I would have no problem popping back in here for a pint.
