An estate pub, off the beaten track despite being almost in the shadow of the A3049. It has a barnlike feel to it, partly due to the echo produced by lack of furnishing and the wooden floors. There is a large carpark which also gets used by HGV, a large garden, though too close to the A road to be relaxing. The public bar has parquet flooring and a minimalist decor. There is a pool table, dartboard and gaming machines. There is also Sky Sports available, but this wasn't in operation when we visited. The saloon bar is equally echoey, with a laminate floor, sparse furnishing and no curtains to dampen the sounds. It is a L-shaped room with a few weird armchairs; mine made a strange farting sound as I sat in it. There are a few tables for diners and one or two bar solls. Both bars have large, brick-built open fireplaces. There is good quality, but still cheap pub food on offer, and two ales. I had a pint of the Ringwood Best which was well-kept but maybe just on the turn. They host occasional live acts. Very much a community pub, the ambiance and decor make it feel more like a working men's club, so despite the beer quality I don't see my dropping in again.
