A 17th Century house which has had a Georgian makeover and been extended and now serves as a village pub which does B&B. There is nothing fussy here – no frills, no pretension, just a really welcoming business in pleasant surroundings. There is a small car park and a small garden at the back, though sadly much of the original grounds has been alienated. The outside isn’t beautiful, but it’s functional and is set in great surroundings, and it includes a boules court in the front garden. There is a large square bar with a small, untidy servery in the corner and there are a few small tables for enjoying bar snacks and beers, decorated functionally in a modern style with a few cricket bats around the walls. There is a large stone fireplace with a some sofas and a coffee table with some board games. At the back is a separate dining room. The staff and locals were very welcoming and it was a shame we had to leave so early. Ales on were Doombar and Plain Ales’s Innocent, both in good condition. The usual keg offerings were complemented by 2 keg ciders. Food is freshly cooked and good value. Worth a visit for a few beers, a meal or to use the B&B

A wonderful village pub, boasting a large selection of beers and cider, the only problem being my inability to drink one of each over lunch! The food is also excellent, and the staff very friendly and knowledgeable about their food and drinks. I would definitely recommend visiting this pub, one of the best around
