Abyss, the craft brewery based just up the road in Lewes has, for the last couple of summers, had this weekend only "pop-up" bar located between Newhaven Station and the riverside.

The place is easy enough to find, with colourful signs easily spotted. You'll first encounter plenty of outside seating at simple benches, though the shelter for a rainy session is no more than canvas. Some of the seats are alongside the Ouse, though also with a view of the endless traffic over the A259 bridge.

At the bar, there's around 8 of your craft kegs, veering towards the higher end of the ABV scale on my visit unfortunately, and served by a friendly pair. There is a pizza oven on-site for your food needs.

I was pretty much forced into sampling the 4.4% Super Pale, given the lack of other beers in the 3.5 - 5.0% range. Had here been more sessionable options, I'd be awarding an extra point, as this was a pleasant stop on a warm afternoon.
