Matches is a laminate floored sports bar with a dartboard on the left-hand wall where the oche runs across the front windows. A pool table in the centre of the room is bookended by booths up the left and a long-curved banquette up the right. There’s a step up to the bar where high tables run along the front windows and the serving counter up the right-hand wall faces a parallel beer shelf with stools. Televisions throughout were airing muted golf, football and Sky Sports News while some background music played. Unsurprisingly there’s no cask, so the draught options available from the friendly barman were premium and mainstream craft keg. If I lived locally I’d probably use this place to watch the match every now and again, but the sports vibe and lack of ale will put many off.
