Cask was a single hand pump providing Old Speckled Hen. Keg offering was Lowenbrau and ABK as the German offerings, then Coors, wild berries Rekorderlig cider, Staro, Guinness, Madri, Sharps Cold River cider and Thatcher’s Gold.
At the front there is a small barrel table-based seating area, and the area is supported by a hatch-based bar offering just a couple of the beers available in the bierkeller. As to what's occurrin' here, the bierkeller is down a flight of steps from the front. To the left of the foot of the steps is a carpeted area housing a pool table and a few dartboards. Generally, the area to the right of the foot of the steps is lino flooring but patterned so it looks like ceramic tiles! There are some booth tables along the left-hand side to a fire grate housing colourful lights. On the right-hand side is a bare boarded square with three dartboards on the walls but the area looking like it is used as a dance floor. The whitewashed bar counter is mid venue on the right-hand wall with some tall stool seating at the bar counter and then some tall tables in the space between it and the aforementioned fire grate. The rear of the venue is then up a couple of steps and has some dark industrial carpet and there are regular tables served by low stools on both sides, the left-hand wall also hosting a decorative fire grate. There is a small amount of outside drinking space at the rear. The bar hosts quite a few fruit machines, there are several TVs showing silent sport with a banging music soundtrack being belted out. Not the most German of bierkellers, but then again this is Barry Island, a Welsh inspired German bierkeller with a good mix of locals frequenting and adding to the ambience here on my visit. Tidy.
