A Nissan hut in the middle of a field, as described below, with a small central stove providing the only source of warmth. Two of their own ales were on draught, The Dirt best bitter, which was an excellent pint, and Fossie’s cloudy IPA, which I didn’t get to try. Other beers were on tap, but again I didn’t get to try them. Hyde’s Cider was also available. The staff were pleasant, the other customers jovial. They don’t serve their own hot food, but a chip van visits every few days. It was an enjoyable visit despite the cold, and I’d be very happy to drop in next time I’m passing.

A brewery tap, it’s up a rough road off a country lane, it’s not well sign posted but worth the trouble finding in spite of only opening Friday and Saturday afternoons. It’s a small brewery in what looks like a Nissan hut sprayed with concrete, the brewing equipment is at the back with a small counter before you reach the vessels. One side at the front has tall tables with stools while there are a few lower tables and chairs and an upholstered bench on the other, tea light holders are emblazoned with bats so I forgive them. There is some more seating outside for nice days. Two hand pulls and four keg taps supply their own beers while a fridge has some soft drinks and other beverages. The beers are well made and well kept, a traditional bitter and a hazy pale were available in cask, a stout and a couple of IPAs were on keg. The bitter is “The Dirt” and the 3.4% stout “Monster of the Weak”.
