An Edwardian (I think) town pub, the Damory Oak is a Hall and Woodhouse tied house on the fringes of the town centre. The interior has been opened up into a single large bar with gaming machines, pool table and a dart board, while the bare boards add a little character to an otherwise bland decor. Having climbed across the mountain of chewing gum and fag ends to get through the door, I found the place lively with the younger town crowd and a little earthy - colourful language was most prominent from the bar staff who, while at first a little wary of strangers, became quite friendly. There were 4 hand-pumps on the bar but only one ale on, Badger Best. ALthough too cold it was otherwise a decent pint. While this isn't my first choice of pub in Blandford, it's OK to include on a crawl or to enjoy a quick pint.
