This place is never open when I visit Ryde. On this occasion in April 2026 I noticed there was extensive scaffolding on the outside and the place looked deserted. I snapped a poor photo through the glass (see photos) showing the taps. Later I spoke with some bar staff in a nearby bar and they said that the Heron was permanently closed and the people running it had set up shop somewhere else, Robin Hill country park apparently. I will ask for it to be marked as closed.
