This was previously a restaurant called 60 Hope Street, changed to its present status in March 2025. I called in on a very busy Wednesday the week before Christmas, so probably not the best time for a review, as the place was rammed with work parties etc. with lots of sparkly dresses and tops on view. Dark green painted walls, white painted bricks and there's a wood burning stove to the right of the bar. I didn't bother exploring the upstairs with it being so busy. 4 handpumps, all on, 2 from Neptune, Sirens Song & Ekuanot, and 2 from Kirkstall, Bitter & Dissolution IPA, all priced at £4.80. Didn't fancy any of these, so had a Guinness at £6.30, daylight robbery, but I have to say it was one of the best pints of Guinness I've ever had, so it took the sting out a little. It's a decent place in an area with lots of choice.

The Dog & Collar is a fairly new pub towards the southern end of Hope Street. It's a pub I've been meaning to visit for a while but finally got around to it yesterday. The pub is entered up a set of steps and you enter into a fairly large room with plenty of little side rooms/areas. The bar is on the right-hand side.

It's all fairly nicely decorated, albeit a touch on the dark side, especially towards the rear. Waitresses were wandering around taking orders and delivering food, very much giving it the feel of a gastropub. Although I would say that the majority of punters just there for a drink. The clientele were predominantly middle aged. Plenty of dogs could be found in one section too.

At the bar, there are 4 handpulls. Just 2 were clipped with a couple of Neptune brews - Venice Queen & Cask Club Loral. I chose the latter, which wasn't the nicest of beers. In fact, I sampled a bit of a drinking colleague's Venice Queen, which was a much better beer.

With Ye Cracke having re-opened up just around the corner and other pubs such as the Belvedere, Philharmonic, Queen of Hope Street, the Pilgrim, the Mayflower and the Grapes all in reasonably close proximity, this may be a pub I call in from time to time if in the area. But it's not the sort of pub I would make a beeline for.
