Beach House, Woolacombe

This is not really a pub in the traditional sense, it’s much more of a café/bar type establishment, but it does nonetheless have a (very) small selection of drinks on tap and there were a number of punters sat outside on the small terrace enjoying the evening sun on our recent visit.

Internally it’s quite contemporary with sanded wooden boards on the floor and plain whitewashed walls and ceilings. The small bar counter was also clad with wooden boards with industrial style light fittings hanging over it, whilst the décor followed a slightly nautical theme befitting it’s location such as a diver’s helmet up on a shelf and pictures of a fully suited diver and a selection of fishes. A rear room looked light and airy with a large roof lantern, and continued the nautical theme with a large rope picture on the back wall.

No real ales on tap unfortunately, in fact no ales of any sort, although I did spot bottles of London Pride in the ‘fridge. Ciders fared slightly better with draught Orchard Thieves. Overall, certainly not a destination for the discerning drinker, but a pleasant enough spot to sit outside on a sunny day.
