This two-storey bar is located in a simple unit in a part of Brixton’ covered market that I never knew existed, just off Electric Avenue. I’m very unclear as to who operates this place, as the signage mentions both Harlem and Supercute breweries, with Supercute beers on tap, Harlem literature dotted around the place and no reliable answer to be found on the internet. The unit is currently open fronted, leaving the room very chilly due to the open ended passageway that leads into the market, although the super-friendly barman assured me that doors would be added soon. Having said that, I passed the place a few months after my initial visit and they’ve added some heavy drapes across the front, which I can’t imagine make all that much of a difference. The room is quite nicely presented, with a simple servery to the rear left and a few basic tables and chairs dotted across the front floor space, with a small, snug like booth to the rear right. The bar has a nicely constructed counter with a smart canopy and all the keg taps lined up along the bar back. Decorative wall coverings add a splash of colour, and blackboards helpfully list all of the draught beer options, along with several wines. Stairs to the right lead up to a marginally warmer first floor space, with decorative, African print wallpaper and curtains, bench and chair seating serving four large tables, a couple of comfy wingback chairs under the front windows and a table football game in the centre. The walls are decorated with mirrors, arty prints and shelves displaying random items, whilst a large TV screen above the staircase was turned off, with some funky tunes playing downstairs instead.
I counted around 12 - 15 keg options, almost all from Supercute, which is the rebranded Friendship Adventure Brewery located not too far away in Loughborough Junction. I tried their Stout which was excellent at a pretty hefty £6.90 a pint, although I did get a large, complimentary bowl of popcorn to go with it. The barman was very friendly and had a nice chat about the brewery before recommending that I try finding a seat upstairs due to the aforementioned cold draught.
This is another decent brewery taproom in the heart of Brixton, making it a good place to sample some decent craft beer or add to a crawl of similar taprooms. I think the service and unusual market unit interior were the main plus points for me, although I enjoy the Supercute beers too and would be interested to try any Harlem beers that they might put on here in the future.

Tap room in Brixton Market for the brewery a 10 min walk along Coldharbour Lane. Pleasant venue in the covered space with the servery in the back left side of the open fronted venue. Some trestle tables and benches facingbthe walk through the market, a table football game inside and opposite the servers with some stools around the servery. There is also a booth style table just in front of the servery, so lots of seating styles packed into a small market venue. Up a flight of stairs on the right-hand side of the venue is a further seating area with some comfy seating options.
Posted a picture of the beer board here. Mostly the Supercute quaffs plus at least one beer they are brewing here in collaboration with the Harlem Brewery. Again I had a pint of their session pale ale and a very moorish beer it was.
I really like what these guys are doing in Brixton. Well worth a trip to visit the Brewhouse and taproom. A mere 10 min walk between so what’s not to like.
