You've got to appreciate a friendly welcome, right? Well, that's what you get here - both barmaids are cheerful and full of laughs.
You also get 3 cask ales and 10 keg, mostly from our hosts, with plenty of seating inside and out. Unfortunately, my pint of cask Worlds End was at the upper margins of acceptable temperatures, though certainly better than the warm beer served up in some nearby venues.
I didn't stick around long enough to check the kegs, though I wish I had - this is a good place, which really should be on your Newbury pub crawl plan. It's close to the station, so visitors to the town can drop in easily.

Brewery and taproom located much closer to a town centre than most such enterprises. The building is unusual, with a low arched roof which may once have housed a motor showroom (or something similar)? Anyway, the floor plan has now been subdivided, with the bar and tables on the left-hand side and the brewing kit and other facilities occupying the other half. Three cask ales, including their Level Crossing best bitter (£5.00) and World's End pale, plus the 2.8% Modern Mild from Field + Theory. Also has an interesting selection of their own craft beers, collaborations, guests and a cider from the row of ten keg taps on the bar-back.
