A bar and kitchen which is part of the Somerset Boat Centre near Maidenmead Lock on the Bridgwater Canal, but which is open to anyone to walk in for a drink on one of the 4 days a week it's open. There is plenty of outside seating, some of it under a canopy to keep the rain off, and there is a car park opposite the Centre. The bar is inside, a small counter in the corner, and more inside seating. It's popular with people walking the canal path as well as people using the Boat Centre's facilities, and the standard of its kitchen makes it a popular venue for diners, especially in Summer. No real ale, but there was Butcombe Original and Tall Tales on keg, plus Thatcher's Gold and Rattler, as well as a basic range of spirits and soft drinks. The staff were welcoming, especially of our dogs, and the atmosphere was both convivial and inclusive. There were several families in, and their children were well-behaved. Notwithstanding the lack of ale, I shall probably use this as a pitstop again before too long.
