No cask. Keg offering of Guinness, Jute session IPA, Sharps Atlantic Pale Ale, Sharps Cold River cider, Madri, Pravha, Staro.
Sports bar with some seating out the front on decking slightly raised above the pavement level. Inside it is bare boarded apart from a tiled area over on the right-hand side around a couple of large booth tables. There are more regular booth tables along the glass frontage to the immediate right of the entrance. The bar counter is a three-sided affair off the left-hand wall with tall stool seating around its perimeter. There is a leather studded banquette along the rear wall with a couple of dartboards on the wall rendering seating in that part unusable when the dartboards are in operation. A couple of other smaller banquettes in other parts of the walls and the odd table dotted around the floorspace around the bar counter. The venue also houses a pool table and many TV screens tuned into the Sunday footy action on my visit. Walls generally bare bricked and plenty of sporting memorabilia adorning them.

Taylor’s is a sports bar that used to be located next to the cinema on the first floor in the Beacon Shopping Centre. This is a much better location, especially for evening trade so I imagine the rent has gone up, but so has the footfall. Café seating stretches across the front under awnings, the tables being a quarter full during a recent lunchtime visit. Inside, the friendly welcome from the Scottish owner remains, as does the sports themed décor and many televisions. Multiple muted sports channels were on whilst some background music played. I didn’t spot the pool table that took centre stage in the previous venue, but there are now two dartboards on the rear wall. The U-shaped bar counter supports standard and premium keg and an American food menu is available. The bacon cheeseburger with fries and onion rings is priced at £14.50 which is about right for the area. This is the sort of place I’d pop into for a pint and some scran before moving on.
