This shop conversion has a much larger interior than you might expect, the bar is to the right of the entrance with trad tables opposite but down a level is a flagstone section with an inglenook which houses a two seater table while further back the space opens out to a back room then the loos. The styling is attractive, partly distressed but artistic with care taken to create an upmarket feel, unlike the boozer atmosphere at the other Dav micro Early Doors.
It's all very new and probably needs time to weather in,although the staff are very friendly and welcoming. There is a beer menu on a side wall and on my trip there were 4 ales on stillage Red Willow Sabro Simcoe,Two by Two Brewery Session IPA and Porter (decent nick) and Shiny 4 Wood (flat,NBSS 2 ) .There were 3 real ciders and 1 sparkling one while the keg beer selection was more extensive with two from Shiny,a Phantom,Neon Raptor,Ansbach & Hobday London Black,Braybrooke Pilsner Lager, and Deya Magazine Cover which was decent ,not too cold nor over carbonated.
Daventry has traditionally not had very good pubs,so this new venture and Early Doors make a very good change,so I'm sure I will pop in again ,hopefully when the operation has bedded down and some thought is given to how stillage ales can be livened up in the pouring if they are not going to be drawn through a tight sparkler as the brewer may have envisioned.
