By far the best of 3 café/bars in this row of shops, being more bar than café. Beers rather better might be expected, with a tolerable Thornbridge Wild Swan on handpump and guest craft from Buxton and Hackney Church. along with regular kegs from Seven Brothers and even Paulaner. Pump clips on the ceiling suggest frequent and interesting guests. The place itself is pretty standard for a retail unit, but tidily done.

Visited back in August. Three hand pulls with one unclipped and one with the clip turned round, leaving Knock the Corners by Howling Hops as the offering. This was a bitter but was better than your average and I certainly enjoyed it.
MaltDog is child friendly and high chairs are available. There is some seating out the front as well as inside. Inside is narrow but goes back quite a bit and offers mainly high seating with a few low tables to the rear past the bar. At this end is a big TV. Fairy lights create a cosy ambience.
Acoustic open mic nights, quiz nights and free Wi-Fi are advertised. I didn't see any signs of a food menu but there was definitely something cooking in the small kitchen and it did smell nice, so that may be something to investigate on a revisit.
Busy on Friday at 5pm and although I would have preferred a choice of more than one ale to go at, it had a nice pleasant vibe to the place and I would be very happy to return.

One roomed bar with a couple of kegs and also 3 cask pumps although only 2 were in operation on my lunchtime visit.
