The Boss, Burnham-On-Sea

A modern lounge and cocktail bar which is something a bit different in Burnham, though not something remarkable in its own right. The large main room has purple lighting, so it feels more like a Croatian knocking shop than a British seaside bar, although the large TV screen showing live football adds a hint of sports bar. No real ale, but San Miguel, Moretti, Carling, Thatcher’s Gold and Infusion were available on keg, plus there was a selection of bottled beers to supplement the cocktail menu. Music was predictably awful and far too loud, but we were told that there was a reggae themed evening in the offing which we might find more enjoyable; we begged to differ. No set food menu as such, but they offer a ‘bottomless brunch’, a bit weird as they don’t open until the evening, plus a limited selection of charcuterie. On the subject of opening hours, they don’t stick to those published. A bold experiment, but not a successful one as far as I am concerned, and not worth making an effort.
