Quayside location. Despite the Theakston gumpf outside there was no cask available at the weirdly small bar. Moved on.

No sports TV at all during our visit and food wasn't being served either. So a bit of a different feel to when Graham visited. The staff were very friendly, but the beer offering needs quite a bit of work. Ms CAMRA wanted a red wine, which she had and pronounced very good. I didn't feel the same way about my Theakstons keg though. It's perfectly OK for what it is, especially in Summer, but I doubt we'd bother again.

After some years as a restaurant this has nominally reverted to being a pub, although it is still largely an eating house but now with an overly loud sports TV (which was being studiously ignored by the customers). A big draw is the tabled area outside on the quay but inside there is a single fairly modern-feeling room inserted in the old building, which was once the Ship Inn according to the old sign under the paint. Being prone to occasional flooding it is a bit plain with a stone tiled floor and much of the plaster removed from the walls, while the rows of tables are mainly copper-topped. A small restaurant-type servery counter is located in a side room with a fairly mundane set of taps. Bitters are restricted to John Smiths and Theakston's keg offerings. Frankly somewhere for the tourists only.
