The Lion & Sun is the tap for the Buck Star Brewery that is housed in a unit on an industrial estate that is easily walkable from Wolverton Railway Station. On the far wall is a steel topped serving counter that supports the brewery’s draught range and to the right is a fridge full of dimpled jugs to allow for a chilled drinking experience. It’s all keg here, so I went for one of their 5% lagers that was served by a very friendly barman who informed me that he was also the events manager. Regular events are held here, but unfortunately my recent midweek evening visit clashed with a local mental health meet where they were discussing issues of young local boys. It’s great that these things are being discussed, but I’d rather have played darts on one of the two boards. Food is available in the form of snacks and pizzas that are prepared at the rear of the bar in an open plan prep area with oven. The meeting aside, I thought this place would be more than it was and I left a little disappointed.
