small brewery/micropub tucked away off Friargate with a couple of guest cask and lots of keg, with just a few of their own beers on. I tried a session IPA and it was pretty palatable on a nice afternoon. It’s a reasonable friendly place but with no one else in on a Saturday lunchtime I felt like I was just passing time. Standard brewpub furniture inside with brewing equipment on show. Hopefully it does well as Preston needs places like this, but I expected a bit more of their own stuff on tap?

Fairly typical small brewery tap, a line of fermenting vessels down the right side, mash tun and brewing kettle against the back wall and a breeze block built counter along the left hand wall. This taproom has a food servery in front of the FVs which is different. The usual ten keg taps on the bar back wall supplemented by counter mounted ones with Anspach & Hobday, Budvar, a cider and two hand pulls, one with Triple Point and the other with Ampersand beers on today. Three of the kegs were from the on site brewery the others from a broad mix. There are two toilets near the front door, one with a bowl and urinal, one accessible. The usual basic seating and decor.

Two cask and 10+ keg taps. Only a couple of their own beers on at the time of my visit a week or so back, with the rest being guests. I haven't had anything by Chain House before, in fact I had never heard of them prior to landing in Preston and I happened to walk the brewery and tap room. I fancied trying one of their beers, which forced me into going down the keg route, "Bad Day To Be A Beer" a 5.2% hazy pale was found to be very enjoyable.
Quiet at 4:30pm on Thursday and I was the only customer in at that point, but it did start to fill up in the run up to 5pm.
An unexpected find and I would be happy to return.
