Bar Rene is a small bar on the ground floor of the Old Court House. It’s actually part of the much larger Bar Brasserie which has seating to the left and rear that can be seen over the island bar, although there is no internal access between the two other than walking through said bar. The interior is L-shaped with tiled floor throughout and a wood panelled serving counter that supports premium keg alongside Camden Brewery’s Pale. On the left-hand wall is a cabinet with lots of bottles for sale and a boar’s head hangs from another wall. I was the only customer in the bar on a recent Wednesday evening meaning there was no atmosphere other than some generic background music. The barmaid was polite, but she was busy serving diners in the rear so I was left to stare out of the window at the wall and railings. I don’t think I’ll stop next time I’m pissing by.
