Fairly standard Cosy Club. On the first floor (tick), covered in portraits bought by the yard (tick), very smart decor with fantastic lighting (tick), very girly friendly (tick), no real ale (tick), Ms CAMRA likes it (tick). This one is in a newer and less characterful building than many of them, but they're still comfortable places to go. We'll no doubt be back to this one.

In spite of a big ground floor frontage the bar is on the first floor reached by a staircase decorated with prints and copies of old masters. Upstairs is a large square room with a central square seating area, and a rear counter, the first thing encountered is a Maitre D’ podium. The periphery on two sides is taken up with chairs and tables, some booth like, tables and chairs predominate the central area although the tables are round rather than square. By the counter are a series of tall tables and stools with some high bench seating, tall tables and stools. The lighting is vaguely Deco in style while the walls are decorated with more paintings, drawing and some framed wallpaper. A mix of ages and types of customers, some perhaps just curious about this latest opening, a couple of odd foreign types wondered in, looked about and left. Three T-bars with euro fizz lagers (Moretti, Estrella, Amstel), a cider and Punk IPA, one T-bar had a Milk Stout instead of the Punk IPA. A rack of wines and spirits clutter the bar back, it has obsequious but well dressed staff.
