The Waterloo Arms is situated on a crossroads. As you enter from the car park, there is a bar to the left down some steps and a dining room to the right. The bar has bare boards and turquoise painted walls. Fires were lit at both ends. The pub does not open until 4pm during the week and is closed on Tuesday. So, the fires were needed to take the chill off the air, given the pub hadn't been open for a while on my Wednesday evening visit.
A TV was showing rugby, whilst Oasis formed the soundtrack. There is a dartboard in one corner.
2 real ales were on - Stewart Pentland IPA & First & Last North Star. Despite only being 3.4%, the North Star was my favourite beer of the day in the Borders. It was in fine condition. Belhaven Best was the pick of the keg options. Coffees are also available.
Another couple had beaten me through the door. They appeared to be taking advantage of the pizza and a pint for £10 offer available on Wednesday and Thursday from 5-8pm. A Sunday carvery is served and the pub also offers accommodation from £65/night. I was glad I stopped off at this pleasant roadside hostelry which apparently is back under private ownership.

A little old roadside pub on the edge of the village, popular with locals and apparently community-owned. There is one old-school bar room with some nice features including the bar itself: the modern stone wall at one end however is not one of them. The front room acts as a restaurant, while there is a gravelled outdoor area off the car park behind. A nice pair of ales were on offer in the shape of Cheviot Upland Ale and Filo Equinox. A pleasant little pub, although up for sale so it might change
