In what looks like a warehouse conversion, the revolving door front entrance of the Wapping Tavern leads to a mosaic floor landing. Downstairs is an open plan space with a long bar counter against the bottom of the stairs and to the left are three pool tables, tables tennis and table football. This area was empty during my recent midweek afternoon visit, I imagine it is only used at the weekend. The main bar is upstairs, with a long serving counter along the rear wall that faces high tables along a glass barrier that overlooks the stairs. Standard tables and chairs are found to the right and left. Up to 28 craft keg products are available, all priced at £6.45 a pint. The right end of the counter has been given over to a pizza making station and oven. The 12” pizzas are priced between £11 and £15. On the rear wall to the left of the pizza area is a dartboard. In the opposite right rear corner is a pinball machine and televisions are located throughout for all things sport. These were muted in favour of some background music. The service was very polite, but the lack of cask means that I’ll probably walk past when next in the area.
