Set up in a small former bank, this place has the feel of a micropub. The square interior has a high ceiling with very impressive cornicing, the wood panelling is painted in a modern dark grey, while the wall lighting is designer. The furniture is a mix of high tables and lower level ones all with heavy varnished wooden tops with metal or plastic stools. There is also a sofa at one end and a refectory table in the middle. The bar is to the left side, and a friendly local there engaged me in beer discussion.
11 taps are wall mounted behind the bar.The listing board was not completely helpful, several beers did not specify the brewer despite giving ABV and pint pricing. Also some real ale is dispenced along with craft keg,but I only found this out after ordering and then chatting with the owner.
For the record on my trip the real ales were Elgoods Echo Peach (NBSS 3),Potbelly Best and Kings Cliffe 5C,while the craft keg with more poke was Nene Valley Egyptian Cream (very good) and several from Boot Town namely Bootknocker Cream Pale,Treasure and Outlaw APA (excellent). There were cider from Saxby's ,and lagers in ABK Pilsner and Nene Valley Heisenberg Lager.Thats a very decent line up,especially in Irthlingborough !
The place is new and finding it's feet.Playing commercial radio was a mistake ,a more gentle soundtrack of rock standards is what's needed.
Besides beer there is lots of gins, cocktails, wines etc and scratching ,crisps ,nuts if you need anything with your booze.
I liked it and wish it well. There really is no where else worth visiting locally if you want a range of interesting beer.I will be back.
