Initially unpromising, this cafe bar is pleasant inside, and the upstairs almost spectacular. No cask beers on at the moment but maybe when the weather improves. My half of Guinness was £3, which doesn't make a revisit very alluring.

I went here early in my Wednesday Horbury tour as it’s hours are 8:30 - 3:00. Not easy to find as the signage is poor but I got there eventually only to find it shut. An A board in the front yard said it was meant to be open but all was quiet and dark inside. The curse of the pub ticker.

The concept behind the Danish word hygge is not well understood in the UK, so when the owners of this "Hygge Cafe Bar" decided to name it by the Danish word for beer they weren't doing anyone any favours. The word ØL uses a character not found in the English alphabet, and if the L is not capitalised, the name looks like oi. And to cap it all, the entrance to the bar is shrouded in a large tent left over from post-lockdown restrictions. I didn't venture inside, but I could see that most of the people in the tent were drinking but not eating, so I guess this qualifies ØL as a pub.
