Axis, or A-X-I-S as their sign has it, is a classic railway arch craft bar, an L shaped counter to one side with seating in front of both arms at scaffolding and board high tables with metal stools. Usual location on the bar back for the nine keg taps, the beers come from far and wide, Deya and Kernal being the furthest flung. The arch is fully lined with steel and there’s a unisex toilet in a rear corner.

A nicely kitted out craft beer bar, the staff were pleasant and service was excellent. I just found the atmosphere a tad sterile compared to the MicroBus. They had eight ales on tap served from behind the bar. I went for the Deya Love is the Answer Pale 4%, setting me back £5.70 a pint.
