One of a growing number of bars in and around the market, this one is the brewery tap for Ben's Brewery. We arrived into the single room pub to find the barmaid a little stressed. She hadn't long opened and seemingly everything was going wrong, including an exploding cask. Despite this, she managed to give off the impression of being calm, as well as being chatty and friendly.

The bar has a laminate floor with a staircase leading up to who knows where. The bar itself is to the rear and has a cold cabinet containing the casks behind it. TVs were showing cricket and rugby and a wifi code is available. There is some outdoor seating overlooking the market and both children and dogs are allowed.

All cask ales were from Ben's. The Duke and Arawak are regular beers. Guests were Cherry Porter, Beyond The Blonde & Wellington. Between our party, we tried the lot. All were good, but I particularly enjoyed my Porter. If the selection is not enough, there is a fridge selling various bottles and cans to the side of the bar.

Having arrived into Chorley much later than scheduled due to train issues, this was a decent place to start in.

real ale bar opposite the market, serving mostly their own brewed beers. Not bad and reasonably priced, the venue is basic though intimate and plenty of banter going around. Barmaid was mute and, to put it politely, i’m not sure hospitality is her calling. I don’t get the hype about this as a venue, but it is nice to get local brewed beers and the locals are inevitably friendly.

As the name says it’s the tap for Ben’s brewery, located in a shop conversion in the market almost directly opposite the Bob Inn. It has a pallet wood and industrial interior with cable tray and Edison lights, and a fair amount of seating. The toilets and a drinking terrace are on the first floor.
