Craft beer bar situated in a railway arch and a little off the beaten track away from the rest of Newcastle's pub and bar scene.
On my Wednesday evening visit, there were just 3 other customers in, despite it being a matchday in the city and also despite an advertised quiz that evening. As you enter, the bar is on the right-hand side. Fridges to the left-hand side have an additional bottle/can selection. The space goes back a fair way, allowing for plenty of seating.
Craft beers on were Almasty Mosaic & Idaho, Left-Handed Giant Extra Belgian Pale & Forest Trails, Dry & Bitter Brewery Mirage V2, Abbeydale Salvation Cappuccino Stout, Schoffenhoffer Pineapple, Flash House It Doesn't Matter & Deya We Are Sorry To Announce. The cider was Novar Scottish Craft Cider.

This modern bar is in an archway beneath the railway line. Light and airy, with mostly white walls and ceiling, the bar has two rows of five keg taps I studied the beer styles and brewers and came to the conclusion that these are beers designed to appeal to people who don't like beers. I went for Brew By Numbers 55, a Double IPA at 8% abv. A third of a pint was £3.50 and I suppose that if you were into cocktails you would think you had yourself a bargain. Some of the other drinks were inappropriately sweet, whereas this one was quite well balanced between sweet and bitter, but there was no perception of malt and yeast that I expect in a beer: it was all fruit flavours, bubbles and chill. The young lad behind the bar was very tolerant of my old fashioned ideas about beer, and wished me a pleasant afternoon as I left.
