A small entrance on Wallgate leads up a flight of stairs to the large sports bar called Anderton’s. My visit was on a recent Monday just after 18:00, when the doors had just opened. The friendly people who run this place explained that they don’t normally open on a Monday, but thought they would as there was a big match on. I thought that most Mondays have premier league football in the evenings so I was a little surprised. The serving counter that supports standard and premium keg runs along the rear wall whilst facing a couple of pool tables. There is a some central seating and then more seating at the front of the bar up to the front windows that overlook Wallgate. Obviously televisions are located throughout for showing live sport. This place has pretty much everything you need for a sports bar and I would use it to watch football if I lived locally.
