Steve C left this review about The Railway

The Railway was surprisingly busy for a Monday afternoon, with the clientele being of an older generation. This large inviting pub has a small L-shaped bar counter that faces banquette seating across the front windows to the left of the central entrance. Behind the bar is a rear seating area that houses a dartboard and is served through the back bar. Banquettes also run across the front right windows and up the right-hand wall. The bar area and walkway up the centre of the pub have lino flooring, and the seating areas are carpeted. To suit the demographic the background music hailed from the 60s. There is an advertised rear beer garden and also picnic tables are found out the front, but this pub is yards from the M60 so it’s a bit noisy.
In amongst the keg are five hand pumps that were drawing TT Landlord and Knowle Spring alongside Holts Bitter, Robinsons Unicorn and Wilde Child’s Resplendent Perspective. The Knowle Spring was well served. A pizza menu is also available, the prices looked very reasonable. The service was polite and locals all seemed harmless enough. I thought this place was worth the short walk from the Oldham Broadway Premier Inn.

Real Ale Ray left this review about The Railway

A large standalone Victorian built pub, that has survived through lots of redevelopment in the area. This pub was a wildcard for us as we spotted it from the tram to Oldham and decided to call in on the way back.
The interior is obviously a good size with the bar area over to the left of the entrance. Five handpumps with four on, serving Holt Bitter and TT Landlord two regulars, along with Doom Bar and Bradfield Belgian Blue.
The beer quality was excellent and my pint of Holt Bitter was only £3.40 a pint.
