Perch is located in an old industrial building down a non-descript side street. There’s a large deliveries entrance through the left with stools under half tabletops that have been attached to the left-hand wall The entrance, on the opposite right-hand wall, opens into a modern wooden floored bar. Standard furniture, sofas and a retro Pacman table sit under a television that was airing muted news while some background music played. High tables run along the front right windows faced by a tile floor surrounded wood weaved serving counter that supports ten hand pumps. Two were unused and four Hogans ciders were available which left four Dead Parrot Brewing Company beers as the cask ale choices. I went for their Sheer which wasn’t to my taste. There are lots of beers in three fridges across the back bar for those with deep pockets who don’t like cider or DPB ales. A food menu is available, there were two separate groups of overseas students tucking in. I can’t see myself passing by here for another beer again.

Something of a surprise to find down a backstreet, but at least it does now have an A-board and some fairy lights to indicate its presence. This is a rather smart conversion of an old industrial building fronting the brewery, which according to the barman they did during Covid when they had nothing else to do. It has a nicely polished floor, with plain but effective industrial-type furnishings, edged with shelving carrying a selection of old and new beer bottles. The bar still has 10 handpumps, all in use with their own beers, and I did wonder whether this was too many for their turnover. The sampled mild was however in good form with no complaints. I could happily sit here and check the rest.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Perch Brewhouse

Dead Parrot brewery tap in a former industrial unit in a quiet area between the city centre and Kelham Island. Although dimly lit inside, the large windows certainly help during daylight hours. The look and feel is semi-industrial too, but nothing like as stark as a BrewDog for example. Also has a courtyard seating area at the back. Excellent range of beers in different styles from eight of ten handpumps and after some dither, I went for a tasty Raven porter (£3.50).
