Loungers have really gone to town on this place. It's huge (the old Welsh School), sited over three large rooms. Whilst some of the usual tart's boudoir decor is present, they've at least made sure that every surface has been painted or tiled and it feels rather well-done. There's almost a hunting lodge feel to the main bar, with the high ceiling retained. We ate here and the food was pretty decent. Service was excellent, genuinely friendly. As usual the let-down is at the bar, no cask in the chain for a long time now and the selection of keg and bottles were fairly average. I tried the only one I hadn't sampled before, Daura Damm. For a bit of grub that's a bit posher than the Spoons over the road, this isn't a bad shout. More varied beer would see a higher mark. 6.5

I had a very nice half of a Brewdog pale here. Young staff so needed to be coaxed through how to pour. Nice outside bit for the summer months. In my top five in Aber.
