Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Royston
Archetypal micro-pub in a small terraced former-shop unit, but none the worse for that of course. Just four tables of any size inside, plus a couple more two-seaters, and a pair of canteen-style benches out front. Mix of décor, including a few feature ceiling lights, but the cool cabinet between the door and the compact counter is the main feature of note. Up to six cask ales on gravity, with four available on this visit: Krush from The Kernel (£4.80), Wilde Child's Thunder in Paradise, the Circle Back collaboration from Siren x Birrificio Italiano and Elusive Brewing's Traverse.

Hipster micro, in neat contrast to the traditional Four Candles and RAT-heavy Mind The Gap. Initially suspicious but to be fair it's done really well. Black and grey interior with a statement glass fronted cool room and a metal plate lower servery. Downside is that it's not obvious what's on as it's scribbled on the cooler glass which isn’t too easy to read. Friendly staff gave me a chat, by this point of the day I suspect I wasn’t as coherent as I’d usually be and my notes are very hazy which backs that up. I think there were four cask and eight ciders in total, a good range of styles beer-wise. I foolishly chose a stupidly strong beer called Jedi Order (which I had scribed as Otter) by VOG, which was slightly over-vented (NBSS 2.5). I also noted that the toilet was ‘boutique’. Unlike the two other micros nearby, this one is GBG24 listed.
