Small cask offering, but very well kept, of the Wye Valley staples of HPA and Butty Bach. Keg offering of Sharps Atlantic Pale Ale, Guinness, Aspall Pravda and Madri. Decent wine list to accompany the food offering.

This is one of my favourite pubs in the Vale of Glamorgan in the little village of Llancarfan. Been coming here infrequently for the last 35 years or so. You won’t walk here, unless you live in the village, and on our Saturday lunchtime Uber trek from the centre of Cardiff to dine somewhere away from the hustle and bustle of an international rugby Saturday in the centre our driver had to navigate some filthy driving conditions. Indeed, when we left after our exceptional lunch via a private hire taxi, we got given the message that we would be picked up in 20 mins if the roads there were still passable! Still worse places to be marooned! Bar counter, stone faced, is facing you as you enter from the roadside. Bar area is bare boarded with an assortment of tables and chairs stools at the bar. Comfy area with fire grate on right-hand side of room and some nice comfy armchairs. Lots of old maps on the walls in this area. Several other rooms mostly set for dining all the same generic style, plain tables, and chairs bare walls apart from the odd picture dotted around. There is a nice, covered seating area out the back not too much in use on a wet Welsh afternoon. Bar area the best part of this venue and is one that I will continue to return to for a feel of an isolated Welsh country village pub.
