The Goodness Brewing Company Tap is located up a side street, but has fairly substantial premises in a warehouse. You enter into a lengthy corridor with toilets off to one side. In fact, the toilets are very unlike most brewery taps I have been to, in that they are really quite spacious.
The corridor opens up to reveal brewing vessels off to the right and a fairly small bar on the left. Behind the brewing equipment, there is another counter on the right-hand side selling pizzas. This was proving quite popular with long queues developing on our Saturday evening visit.
On the bar, I wasn't expecting a cask ale, but did find Goodness/360° Livin' Free on a handpull. Keg beers from Goodness were Sunset, Sunshine, A Love Supreme, Yes!, Small Wonder, Bean Naughty, Wood Green Hopping City ESB 2024 & Big Sky Dreams. There was also a keg cider from Goodness - Good Cider.
Both the Livin' Free and the Bean Naughty I tried were good in condition. My only criticism of this place was that they are extremely difficult to get hold of. I'd tried contacting them different ways during the week to confirm they were open on Saturday evening, but received no reply. They have no telephone number published and their email address didn't quite seem correct. However, the guy who served us did say that it was correct and he wasn't quite sure how he'd missed my email. They had been expecting up to 150 people to arrive. So a lot of the canteen-style tables would be taken, but he did point out one near the bar we could sit on.
My main reason for visiting Wood Green was to try the Wetherspoon's. But this was certainly a decent diversion. I'm not sure I'd make a special journey back to the area to visit again though. It's a good 10-minute walk through residential side streets and alleyways with intense aromas of cannabis to get there, which is not the most inspiring.

This is a large barn of a taproom, stuck out on a quiet backstreet industrial estate, around ten minutes walk from Wood Green station. You enter via a long passageway that leads you past the brew plant, with just a drinking ledge and high stools to perch on, before emerging into a large open plan space at the rear, with the bar to the left, a kitchen to the right and loads of seating and standing room in-between. The room has a bare concrete floor, whitewashed blockwork walls and a very high ceiling, supported by large metal girders and with the usual exposed utilities cleverly covered to a degree by various Chinese lanterns and fairy light decorations. The bar has a blocky counter and bare wall bar back, with beer boards handily positioned over to the left. Opposite, is a higher, but similarly unremarkable counter, behind which pizzas were being prepared, which I have to say, smelt great. Four or five rows of orange canteen style tables and benches fill the main body of the room, which is dimly lit, making for a decent feel and perhaps hiding some of the less attractive elements of the design. The brewery name is stencilled on one wall, and I spotted a DJ area a little further back, whilst loud music played throughout the duration of my visit.
There were around eight or nine homebrew beers on keg dispense and a friendly barman made some suggestions after the option I picked turned out to have just gone off. I eventually ended up trying Goodness A Love Supreme at £6.00 for a pint, but it poured very hazy and wasn’t particularly pleasant - thanks for the recommendation!
I thought this was a decent enough set-up that is probably quite a nice place for locals to enjoy small batch beer in an area with limited pub options. The interior is a bit to large and impersonal to create a good atmosphere or make you feel like you’d want to settle for an extended session, and the jury is still out on the quality of their beer, but it could still be worth checking out if you find yourself in this part of town.
