This place hasn't changed much since the previous reviewer's visit. Still no real ale of course, but a pint of Birra Moretti was £5 which didn't seem too expensive to me by London standards. Just snacks on offer in the way of food when I was in on Wednesday afternoon - "spicy bags" (whatever they are) and fries and the like.

But the main feature of this pub is the magnificent late Victorian tiled panel by W B Simpson. The Simpson company is of course well known for their tiled panels in London, but this is probably the largest that I've seen - and I may well have seen them all. The tiling is from floor to ceiling, the centre-piece of which is the (approx) 6' x 5' Simpson's panel entitled "THE TRIAL OF QUEEN KATHARINE. Henry VII. Act II. Sc.IV". It's Katherine of Aragon of course, and the scene depicted represents the pre-cursor to the birth of the Church of England. I would expect the presence of this tiling to earn the pub a place on CAMRA's National Inventory.

Here previously on 10/08/2021 when it was called Barefoot Joe’s (and prior to that the Red Hand - not visited in that guise).

This is a typical bare boarded small single room establishment with the bar against the far wall (not very far) as you walk through the front door. An assortment of tables and chairs and a small feature made out of two doors with upper glass panes at right angles to each other and fixed to the central pillar to break the room up a bit. Interesting tiled wall of the trial of Queen Katherine and the other walls had large glass panes making the space light.

Quaffs wise, quite boring with six taps dispensing Guinness, Brixton Reliance Pale Ale, Fosters, Moretti, Cruzcampo and Inch’s cider. Music was decent but overload drowning out conversation in the small space.

Wanted to come back and reticle the place off but I can’t see myself coming back here (unless it changes its name again)!!
