A huge industrial unit with pic nic benches outside. The substantial brewing kit is at the far end ,with a drinking shelf by the shuffle board and refectory tables .The main bar is to the right in a square section with a slatted ceiling,a flatscreen describing the 20 keg beer options and twelve wall mounted taps with a chalk board above. The other 8 taps are in a huge side room called Neon which although closed on my visit, the bar staff will fetch beer from here if you are ordering off the flatscreen.
There are board games and the food looked interesting ,vast beef burgers in an American style with one being called Peter Green, butter milk fried chicken, tender wings, loaded fries and so on.Easy to spend £20 on exotic burgers and loaded fries but that might give you more calories than you really need, the prices are discounted at lunchtime and meal deals will reduce the bill a bit.
There were 7 guest beers on my trip, with 13 from Phantom mainly Pales and IPA's while the guests do broaden out the style mix with fruit beers, sours and dark beers. There is a lot of high ABV's to shoot at.My Phantom Invest in AI was good although I did give a good belch on getting up to leave.I enjoyed my trip and would return both for the indie beer and the food although how much keg you can consume before getting over gassed depends on your constitution.

Improvements and regular trips here - it seems to be a place where Readingites have their birthday bashes now - beer range has improved and their own brews can occaisonally reach impressive heights. A good selection of guest craft as well. If you are the adventurous type, this is worth a visit.

December 2019
It's a cold lockup hosting a new brewery and tap (Phantom) with very limited opening hours (see WhatPub). However there is a specific bar area, decorated in black and white, offering-up a craft-tastic selection. Tried three of the Phantom brews which, to be honest, all tasted rather alike. Early days of course. It’s close enough to the station to be worth a nose if you like that sort of thing. Oh, and it's cashless - so card payments only.

Moby Duck left this review about The Haunt

Set in a large unit in a backstreet location, home of Phantom Brewing, open only Fridays and Saturdays. When I found the place I wondered if it was actually open, the only clue being the presence of an outside catering van as seen in my picture, access is through the small door to the right of the main shutters which presumably will be open in warmer months. Inside there is a separate designated drinking area (The Haunt), which is quite smartly done up with some decent seating and heaters on the walls which was a bonus on my visit, it opens out onto the main brewing area where there is additional bench seating. Its all keg here and as Quinno mentions Card only payment.Beers come from 13 taps on the back wall of the bar, additionally cans and bottles can be brought from the fridge. There was five of Phantoms own beers on tap along with eight beers from various guest breweries, I had one of Phantoms and one from Waen, both were good but kept far to cold in my opinion. I was suprised to find up to thirty people enjoying the facilitys given its out of the way location, but once found its not to far from the main town and well worth a look.
