Yup another town another Lounger, beer choice on the lefthand side counter as is the corporate norm, has anyone been in a Loungers with the counter elsewhere? This one has more than its fair share of mirrors and old pictures, the walls are stiff with them. Old board floor, no sign of any markings now, usual furnishing so corporate ID writ large. Maybe the piped music was louder than usual. The staff in those places are usually spot on, this one is no different. Toilets at rear, the whole place is on the ground floor.

Another venue from the Lounges chain that seem to be in every town I visit, Olmo Lounge has all the usual offerings of a strip wood floor throughout with faux old school gym markings, large lampshades and different shaped lights, floral wallpaper covered in framed pictures and a dim red hue. The counter midway up the left supports premium keg. My visit was on a recent Tuesday, so I decided to take advantage of the Tuesday Tapas deal, which was three tapas dishes, some flatbread and a pint of Cruzcampo for less than £15, which I thought was a good deal. Unfortunately, the Kofte didn’t really taste of anything, and the curry cauliflower was very sweet, but the bread and the chicken was great. The service, as nearly always in this chain, was very polite, bordering on friendly, and I generally like popping in for some food when I’m working away, but I wouldn’t ever use one of these venues just to have a few beers.

A dreadful modern lounge bar with no real ale or cider, just the usual megakeg offerings. The staff were clueless, and the clientele unappealing, especially those with prams. Probably fine if you’re after an over-priced coffee and don’t mind screaming feral children aged between 2 and 20, but if you’re an adult looking for a beer there is no reason whatsoever to come here.
