Grey Trees tap. Corporate black and greys colours inside which probably didn't work in its favour given the small amount of light at the front. Five of theirs on cask, my first choice of JPR was a flat murky mess, the clueless barmaid gave me flannel that it was fresh on yesterday. When it was obvious I wasn't buying, I was offered a replacement - Drummer Boy - which was fine if a bit over-vented (NBSS 3), supped to awful wibbly downbeat music. Subsequently the JPR was still palmed off to another punter; I suspect that much like the great man himself he was destined to go on a mazy run after consumption. To top it all off was the passive-aggressive bog sign basically telling people to take shit at home. GBG listed but I’d stick to the Whitcombe.

Steve O'Gorman left this review about The National Tap
A new outlet for the award-winning Grey Trees microbrewery, located just a mile away. It's part of the old National School building, right in the town centre. Five large tables, a few smaller ones, and an outside seating area probably qualify it as a micropub. More than fifty customers and it would be a squash. Cosy inside, with background music and a rather obtrusive TV, but no pool table or jukebox. Wide selection of Grey Trees products and guest beers/ciders as well. Plenty of scope for it to become a focal point for mature drinkers.
