An unpleasant 15 minutes walk from the station alongside the busy, noisy, polluted A27 (a road which must be crossed no less than 3 times) brings us to this new joint venture between Arundel Brewery & Edgcumbes Coffee Roasters. The latter occupies the right hand side of the bar with an array of coffees and a selection of cakes and pastries. The brewers have the other end, behind which there's a keg wall of 8 taps or so; on my visit one was a guest and another a cider.
There is supposedly an onsite brewery producing a couple of special cask ales for sale here, but there was no trace when I visited and the barman didn't seem entirely certain whether there might be at some other time. Nevertheless, a pint of 4.5% Clockwork (New England Pale Ale) was just right on a warm day. At £5, it seemed reasonably-priced for the current wave of craft keg, though most of the rest were somewhat more expensive as well as being somewhat higher up the alcoholic scale.
Also somewhat high in price were canned beers and coffee bags to take away - these must surely be aimed at the tourist at up to £5 each per can (the coffee was even more expensive).
The building is a former farm shop and still had that feel, to be honest. Only the most intrepid pub crawler is likely to want to combine The Brewhouse Project with the pubs in Arundel itself. Fortunately, there's ample car parking, but drivers aren't drinkers (or certainly shouldn't be).
