Blackthorn _ left this review about The Granary Club

Located in the basement of the long gone Granary nightclub, the ground floor of the building is currently used as a restaurant and the pub has in the past been used as a bar for diners with access directly from the restaurant. It’s now operating independently though with it’s own entrance at the opposite end of the building. It’s also well known locally as the filming location for Del Boy’s famous “falling through the bar” scene in Only Fools and Horses.

Internally it’s a long, fairly narrow room with an arched ceiling which was presumably used as a cellar at one time. It’s quite dark making in difficult to discern too much in terms of décor, but the walls, roof and padded bench seating all seemed to be turquoise, and it really had the feel of an exclusive cocktail bar rather than your traditional pub. There were old flagstones on the floor, red velvet curtains at either end, and a long bar counter to the right, with further seating provided by burnt orange upholstered armchairs. A lamp stand made from a nude gold mannequin was an unusual feature.

Unfortunately there were no real ales on tap, with the sole keg offering being Wanna go to the Sun from the local micro Lost & Grounded. Even worse, the solitary cider, Iford Wild Juice was off. Overall, it was just about ok I suppose and the young barman was friendly enough, but it’s really not my sort of place.
