The Banyan is a trendy bar and restaurant which, judging by the décor and happy uplifting music, is popular with the ladies of the local offices. The bar area is located at street-level where a long serving counter with a mirrored back bar full of what seemed like every spirit known to man runs up the left-hand wall. This counter faces a row of high tables that run from front to back. To the right a row of high banquettes runs in parallel and behind them up the right-hand wall is a row of booths. I didn’t visit the large mezzanine full of seating upstairs, but it looked more geared towards dining, the burgers are priced at £15 which is very good for the area. Premium and craft keg were available from a polite young barmaid, I went for a half of some mass produced premium lager and sat at one of the high tables. The oversized stool was surprisingly comfortable, in fact my backside could have stayed longer, but my brain wanted to leave.
