Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Dolphin Hotel
Hall & Woodhouse hotel, with the 'Long Bar' in adjoining building at the right-hand end. This already has light, semi-modern look but I was advised that that it was closing in a couple of days for a four-month refit. This also explained why the cask ales were surprisingly unavailable from the pair on handpumps on the counter, as the stock was being used up in readiness. Made do with a quick half of the Hazy IPA (£2.85), one of two Outland branded Badger craft beers (with the other being a stronger West Coast IPA).

Hotel and restaurant on the main street through Beer. This seems to be the place where visitors to the village come, as opposed to the locals. Although at least one local did appear during my visit with his dog.
You enter into the hotel's main reception area which then leads into one of two rooms, this one being the more basic. The room to the right looked more enticing. It is brightly painted and has a few fishing and maritime items on the walls. There is a raised area to the rear with a boat that children seemed to enjoy climbing into.
There is a fruit machine and a dartboard, whilst quiet background music was playing during our visit.
Being a Hall & Woodhouse establishment, Badger Best Bitter was the cask ale. A Fursty Ferret clip was turned around on the other handpull. Their West Coast IPA & Hazy IPA were available on keg. Ciders were Thatcher's Gold & Haze.
With breakfast being served until midday, we ordered a couple of things off the menu and received some fairly large portions. Food was good quality and service was friendly. We stayed long enough for my son to have something off the lunch menu too. As we were leaving, my son spotted the Cockburn Port box, which was part of several underneath of the bar. Pronouncing it phonetically and saying it out loud seemed to tickle the young barmaid!

This hotel has two bars. To the left is the lounge bar which is only open lunchtimes and evenings, and is smart and comfortable. To the right, (the white part in the photo,) is the long bar, which is open all day. It seems to be the bar for the town locals, with darts and pool, and a good atmosphere. George Gales Seafarers Ale at £3.00, with London Pride also available.
