Nice place but really quiet compared to the rest of town, maybe not helped by the barmaid sat behind the bar fiddling around on her phone, perched so low down she looked like Mr Chad. Modern ‘gentle pretention’ décor - exposed brick walls, flagstone floor, a copper top counter, fairy lights. A nice soundtrack played. Four cask plus craftykeg and cider. My Three Brothers Chocolate Cherry was good (NBSS 3.5) but lacked the turnover to get that top mark for a well-cellared beer. GBG listed. I wouldn’t be averse to a revisit.

Bar to rear as you enter. Seats beforehand. Five cask and nine keg. Not a bad place at all - would return.

This is a husband and wife venture, the wife owns and runs the bar, whilst her husband provides a selection of cask beer, as he works as a brewer for Three Brothers Brewery. Three handpumps on our visit, serving a house beer called House of Hop Blonde, brewed by Three Brothers. Also on was Wild Weather Full of Beans and North East IPA, another one from Three Brothers. All their beers were in top condition and averaged around £3.50 a pint. The interior had exposed brick walls, flagstone floor, a copper top counter and another feature was the casks were stored up high, in a small chiller behind the bar.
