A fairly generic and uninspiring airport bar, they have I suppose made a bit of an effort to make it attractive in a very modern “bar like” sort of way, but it does seem to aimed at diners more than drinkers, with a “Please wait to be seated” lectern just inside the entrance way, and when we said we only wanted a drink were advised that we had to sit in the outer surrounding area rather than the bar proper. This also led to quite a queue to get in on many occasions when nobody was available to deal with the customers.

The entrance consisted of a wooden gateway with the pub’s branding and beyond this was a contemporary interior with a wood strip floor and a long bar counter along the back. Most of the walling was either low partitions or screens, but in the small areas where there was solid walling, this had been painted in gastro-pub brown and decorated with some pot plants. Plenty of exposed filament light bulbs dangled from the ceiling which is of course de rigueur in any modern pub, and there was leatherette bench seating around much of the perimeter. The back drop to the bar consisted of shelving units filled with an array of wine bottles which had been made in to something of a feature.

Unfortunately there were no real ales on tap, or indeed much in the way of ale at all with just a couple of American Pale Ales on keg. The solitary cider meanwhile was Mortimer’s Orchard, with the prices being predictably expensive at around a fiver a pint.
