Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Angel Inn

Still looks like the historic market inn it originally was, but altered out of all recognition inside. Partly opened out to leave four main seating / dining areas, with a mix of furniture and decoration. Also has a decking beer garden to the rear. However, the tall chairs and drinks shelves along the front windows are good for watching the world go by. Interesting selection of cask ales from the two banks of three handpumps too, including a pair from Beartown and my Rum Porter from Empire Brewing (£4.80). German beers are also focus here, with a ceramic Weihenstephan fount offering light and dark versions of the Hefeweissbier along with the seasonal Festbier.

A good boozer opposite the market hall. Open plan with a largish outside drinking area at the rear. 6 handpulls with a good variety of styles available. All decked out for an Oktoberfest theme on my visit. Outdoor pavement seating at the front. I liked this pub and would be happy to return.

My first visit here, though I got such a strong feeling of deja vu on entering that I had to check my notes from previous years when I got home! It was quite loud, with some Motown on the sound system. I had a good laugh with one of the lasses working here about what a jolly, uplifting tune the Velvettes' Needle in a Haystack is, when you stop to think that the lyrics are all about how bloody awful some men can be. The beer was also good, with six hand pumps advertising beers from local breweries (Howard Town, Beartown, Poynton and Empire). I like a pub to play good music with enthusiasm, not just to take the edge off an uncomfortable silence, but if I'd been in company I'd have been moving on because I couldn't hear myself speak. As it was, I had an enjoyable quarter of an hour and would be happy to try this one again.
