A 16th Century terraced house which has been a restaurant for many years, though it’s now possible to have a drink without a meal. The layout is as described below. No real ale on, just a keg foreign lager, which was grudgingly served by a supercilious young male who clearly resented drinkers. The food looked good, but it was expensive. A great restaurant, but not a great pub.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Hengist

95% a restaurant, but the two-part ground-floor room is open to those just looking for a drink, and there is a larger rear beer garden than one might expect. Apart from a few stools by the compact bar counter, I found the tables all laid up for diners, and further rooms are available upstairs. A Tonbridge real ale is usually available from a solitary handpump, but this wasn't on when I visited so I went for the same brewery's IPA from one of the keg taps. (NB - Review dates from September 2019).
