Like Graham, I'm not quite sure why this is listed as a separate venue from the Brew York Tap on the floor below, but ho-hum.
Seemingly geared towards the city’s students, this would presumably be a warehouse conversion of some sorts, with a semi-industrial appearance as described below, a beer wall to the rear, above which is a bank of screens (see photo) listing wares on offer and giving the high tech Eurostar departure board at St. Pancras a run for its money; either way, there were around 40 taps to a beer wall, but just two pumps on the bar top, the Milk Stout good, my round of seven halves coming in at £16.95.
Not the most attractive or comfortable of places, the limited choice of cask dents the appeal; if I were to return to York, this place wouldn’t really make my list of must-visit venues; the family with babies in tow was an extra disincentive.

On our crawl visit the tap room was not open so we had to be content with the Beer Hall up a flight a stairs . A large open plan space with long refectory high tables,and other high tables,an open kitchen for Japanese street food and a long serving bar on the far wall with screens above describing the ale and indie beer offerings.
Just two real ales in their Blonde and Milk Stout (NBSS 4) with Brew York indie beers grouped as 4 fruity & sours,a Pilsner,6 Stouts & Dark beers,5 Pale & Hoppy while the guest beers were 7 Fruity & Sours,a Chimay Red,4 Pale & Hoppy ,two Lagers and two Dark Beers & Stout.Thats was an unbelievable line up from highly respected brewers alongside the excellent house beers,there will be someting to really tickle your tasted buds so although the interior is austere ,I would most certainly return to sample a few beers.
